Italian Black Forest Honey

Italian Black Forest Honey

Our latest Italian Black Forest is a rich and warm burntĀ umber colored honey with notes of sweet date and a pleasing acidity that pairs especially well with soft cheeses. This dark, full-bodied honey is ideal for the cozy winter months when your body craves deep and robust flavor profiles with a hint of natural warmth.

Black Forest Honey, also known as Honeydew Honey, is unique to our selection. While still classified for our purposes as a monofloral (single-pollen) honey, Forest honey is actually made when bees consume honeydew, a sweet substance from the processing of tree sap by aphids, rather than nectar.

The wonderful health benefits of this 12oz jar of honey parallel the accolades of Manuka honey. A dark honey with a high mineral and antioxidant content and a light molasses taste, Forest honey is highly prized in Europe and a staff favorite.

Using Your Raw Black Forest Honey at Home

Drizzle your Black Forest honey over baked eggplant fries for a sweet and savory appetizer. Our Honeydew Honey also pairs particularly well with Brie and other soft, aged cheeses and is an excellent accompaniment or substitute for fig jam on cheese boards.

If you prefer to add honey to your tea, we recommend trying it as an interesting pairing with a shou pu er like theĀ 2008 Jingmai, robust black teas likeĀ Feng Huang Hong Cha, and honeyed oolongs such as Lao Cong.
